Kim O'Connor Passes Away

Kim O'Connor, who wrote and recorded the "Fort Worth Cats" theme song, passed away Saturday due to complications from diabetes.

His mother, brothers and sister-in-law were in town and able to tell him goodbye.

Cats' owner Carl Bell stated, "Kim O'Connor was a special friend, a special singer and a special Cats fan.  He graced the Cats' games at LaGrave Field with his presence and his wonderful renditions of our National Anthem and God Bless America many times each season over the past ten years."

"In all the years that it has been my pleasure and honor to know Kim, I never heard him voice a negative word about any person or anything... his positive outlook, and devoted love for the Fort Worth Cats was an inspiration to me, especially in some of the tough times.  All I can say is that the Cats and I could always count on Kim... and at the end of the day, which it is unfortunately for our friend Kim, always being counted on is one of the greatest traits any person can have."

"Good-bye, Kim... you will forever be a part of the family and the history of the Fort Worth Cats."

A memorial service/celebration of Kim's life will take place on Sunday, Nov. 27 at 7:00 p.m. at Grace Works Church, 5008 James Ave., Fort Worth, 76115.

Rather than flowers, the family suggests that if you wish to pay tribute to Kim, you may make a donation in his memory to the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association or Parker Paws, an organization that helps provide a better life and find homes for animals at the Parker County Animal Shelter. Parker Paws address is P.O. Box 781, Weatherford, TX 76086.
